Women

Women

A Poem by Bethany Woody
"

Contest writing for the group I Am Woman.

"

March along in little lines

holding up your banner signs

recognize the changing of the times.

No longer property

with no authority

It's my mind and my body.

Molly poured without rest

And Rosey built to her best

Me, I burned a bra in protest.

Down thru all the years

with blood, sweat, and tears

we won the right to have careers.

But did we get what we really yearned

and what did we really learn

other then bridges to burn.

This was good Mona! I liked how you left the reader with questions...makes you wonder is there all there is to being a women? I like the fact you weaved yourself into the poem. This makes me feel that maybe there is still something left to yearn for and maybe we have to burn some more bridges. Thanks for entering the contest.-Catrina

This was amazing Beth and it showed or summed up what woman have gone through and have become.
I loved the lines.......

"Molly poured without rest
And Rosey built to her best
Me, I burned a bra in protest."

Made me chuckle, but I remember hearing about this in history.
I am woman hear me roar!!!!
Thanks for the smiles.
