Only In My Dreams

Each night I get to hold you tight
If only in my dreams
You wrap your love around my heart
While lying next to me

To say I love you is not enough
It's more than just these words
It goes beyond one single thought
And anything you've heard

I watch the moonlight touch your face
As I gently kiss your cheek
I wonder if its me you see
When you're smiling in your sleep

Although this dream will surely end
And I know I'll have to wake
With all the ways you've touched my heart
Its almost more than I can take

I count the days this dream comes true
And your love is here with me
But until that day I'll hold you tight
If only in my dreams

Strange things dreams. Someone once said 'Be careful what you dream for' maybe it was wish for? Same difference. Funny how we are plagued by dreams of the things we can't really have. You have captured this in your write.

How you're able to write so many great poems in such a short amount of time is completely beyond me. Not only that, but you've managed to sum up my love life in a single piece of writing. It's sad how the protagonist's only way of being with the one they love is in their mind. The longing for a love returned is strongly conveyed and the use of dreams just emphasizes the wishful tone behind the words. Good job again.
