SleepA Poem by Kristen“Now I lay me
down to sleep, I pray the Lord
my soul to keep, And if I should
die before I wake ---” Sleep
does not comfort me, The
uncontrollable darkness does not ease. I
do not understand why I cannot see, Just
let me breathe, my God, please! Sleep
does not bring me respite, The
haunting nightmares do not leave. I
only wish they depart because I might: My
God, do not let my mind grieve! Sleep
does not keep me alive, If
anything, it’s slowly killing me. My
God does not want me to thrive, My
God does not want me to see. © 2010 KristenAuthor's Note
