Adjusting to DeathA Poem by KristenYour eyes were half-closed when the darkness claimed you, It was a sad event, wouldn’t you agree? Oh, how it must have felt to have your eyes glaze over, Or perhaps being numb was the most horrific part? I do recall my own passing, What happiness it brings to remember now! Leaving the world permanently was not ghastly, In fact, it was quite superb. I believe the worst element was the blindness, Maybe the lack of sensation, too --- Ah, but it does not matter now, Seeing that you are here with me at last! I know I have missed much and that you were angry, But we have eons of time to catch up! It’ll take you some time to adjust, I know, Death is not easy to grasp. But follow me now, dear friend, I solemnly swear you can trust me, Let’s sit down and talk, as we used to, You can meet the Devil later! © 2010 KristenAuthor's Note
