Happiness and its Pursuits

Happiness and its Pursuits

A Poem by Psykolabe

We can all say we don't know,
but all we're doing is hiding.
Trying not to get hurt,
even for those few moments that will never matter.

So afraid of pain,
Leaving yourself open isn't an option anymore.
That's what makes love so difficult!
You don't want to trust,
especially after pain.

That's what makes life so hard,
For what is life without friends?
And what are friends without love?
Friends indeed.

Next time you meet someone,
Say hello,
Smile,
Ask them how they are.

You'll never see them again,
But I bet they'll be happy for awhile.
Happy enough to go do the same to some other people.

That's what I'm trying to do,
Get the whole world to cheer each other up

Even when times are tough
Wallets are bare,
Stomachs are empty.

The reservoir of happiness never runs dry,
You can spare some.
Happiness helps.

UGH, AMEN. I sincerely applaud you for writing this. I just... I need a moment to recover.

...
Okay. I love this because I'm a bleeding heart hopeless romantic and when I thought about why it's so difficult to just open up to someone, give yourself the opportunity to love and be loved, your second stanza is pretty much what I came up with. And why is it so difficult to pay happiness forward and be nice - even to someone you don't know? You've summed so many of my own thoughts up beautifully. The last two stanzas are amazing and so true. You did an excellent job on this.
