I am the soil that thirsts… always waiting during the scorching heat of the sun for your return. I patiently wait as the life around me withers and dies. I even continue to hope as the ground cracks and dries.
I would always be there waiting not moving from my site so you can come and find me again…
The weeks of blue skies will one day darken as ominous gray clouds hide the sun and a clap of thunder shall awaken everything that hears him... and then you finally fall.
Everything around me will turn to silence as I listen to the pitter-pattering of your voice. My longing has been quenched. The ground will soften at your arrival. And the life that has withered in me shall thrive once more, and when you leave I’ll continue to relish the memories of your touch until I can feel them no more.
Then I’ll go back to pray that you’ll someday turn to look at me… and finally return to stay forever.
But you can’t, you are the tears of heaven that can never fall on the same place for eternity. And one day you’ll disappear for so long leaving me under the searing heat of the sun, but I’ll always welcome you back despite how long you have left me barren…
My summer rain…
