In Love To Grow Bored and Eventually Separate

In Love To Grow Bored and Eventually Separate

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

I was naive and it was great

"
That is how young love comes and goes
Still, it seemed such a thrill when I was fourteen
What I knew, what I believed, what I felt
means more to me now
because there's little to compare

Yeah, I'm smiling, smiling, smiling
because these days I am usually bored
Back when I knew nothing
I was always smiling, smiling, smiling
I was naive and it was great

My first love found a home among the hills
I was inbetween two valleys without a clue
I don't miss her; I just miss how she made me feel
To her, I was just some other boy
It makes sense to me but it still makes me sad

I wish I could fall in love
as easily as I did when I was young
Instead, I have to take the hard way
round to the same conclusion
One smile that weathers the rain
with soaked sentiments which bloom
in the dying sunlight
Really, it's the same old regret
I let another piece of my heart
slip through my fingers

I wish I was naive as
when I was fourteen

"I wish I was naive as when I was fourteen." Don't we all?

Being naive is a beautiful thing. Naive, as in context of innocence.

'Cause when you're young, everything is innocent. You know nothing to be right or wrong. You're still learning.

But it sucks so much to learn because when you find out everything that's wrong, it kills our insides a little. Can't do this, can't do that. Very boring.

A little off topic? Maybe, but I'm just trying to make a point.

Always happy to read your stuff Elliott. Makes my day. Gives me a lot to think about. x

Being younger and ignorant seems like a terrible thing when you are in it but then you look back and miss it. Love seemed so much better then. Loved it

Everything seemed so hard at the time it's only through age we realize how freekin easy it was...relationships were simple. Now we have tons of baggage we drag with us into each new attempt. Oh the joys of adulthood.
