Then She Came

Then She Came

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

She gave me her heart and I gave her a pearl necklace

"
She may have several shades of lipstick
smeared across that mouth of hers
She doesn't want no dog howling all night
instead she'll face that beast up close

She gave me her heart
and I gave her a pearl necklace
I've come all undone
and so, she smiles
She smiles

She's got a pie cookin' in the kitchen
but she does all her work in the lounge
From six to nine, she's all mine
reaching round when I need her the most

She gave me her heart
and I gave her a pearl necklace
I've come all undone
and so, she smiles
She smiles

She's baking biscuits but they're getting soggy
even though it's getting hot in here
I don't get how someone with such little money
gets out of paying so many bills
