Kodokushi

Kodokushi

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Is this life or just a lost cause?

"

I sit alone in the pale gaze of the skyline
bathed in a sadness I am accustomed
My dreams are passing by slowly
and those who were close to me
I now only remember

I spend my nights in the glimmer
of many passing streetlights
It's the embrace of another world
that exists far beyond the sunset
to keeps me from wasting away here

Is this life or just a lost cause?
When anger becomes doubt
what is left to contemplate?
In the lonely rows of empty skyscrapers
lies so many lost souls waiting for recognition

great lines that speak of hope and faith that there has to be something more. We all seek our moment of "recognition" but it's experienced by the few rather than the many, unfortunately. An inisghtful, reflective observation on "life". Nicely done. Penny

Can completely relate to this. Expressed beautifully and the scenery of skyscrapers makes the idea of isolation even stronger. Nicely written.
