Lost in the Adult World

Lost in the Adult World

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Blame our faults on what we cannot control

"
We are just two kids lost in the adult world
Blame our faults on what we cannot control
Perhaps you was too withdrawn and I was too blunt?
Who knew if you shared your pain with anyone else
I wasn't sure if I could handle it myself

Sometimes I can't be around you
and sometimes you want me to carry your weight

We are just drifting through life alone
Guess no one taught us how to grow old
It's fine, it's good, it's cool...
If we could just learn how to not lash out
maybe our times of joy won't devolve to hate

Sometimes I need to be alone
and sometimes I need to listen to you more

There's so much truth here that is reflected in most of the relationships I know and have had. I like that it questions whether the reasons for disharmony lie within the self rather than another, as they often do. I love "no-one taught us how to grow old" - brilliant ! Penny :)

The last two stanzas. Brilliant.

The adult world is something I would prefer not to be in. This states that very well.

Yes, I agree with this poem.
There are a lot of people who are "just two kids lost in the adult world."
And we often "blame our faults on what we cannot control."
Very good and nice perspective.
