How To Break a Heart

How To Break a Heart

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Who knew the person you desired the most was the one who knew how to break your heart?

"

There’s nothing but the darkness to comfort you
when your love is taken but only sadness is given
Who knew the person you desired the most
was the one who knew how to break your heart?
Only the lonely will ever appreciate this ache within

If I could live my life again
I’d rise above the pain
maybe then I’ll learn how to break a heart
But then who would I be
A cruel soul of enmity
if I learned how to break a heart

The passion of lovers mirrors the desperation
of a thousand and one losers unlucky in romance
Why would we be born just to die alone?
Maybe you crave only what will leave you
If so, my love for you will be left to wither within me

If I could live my life again
I’d rise above the pain
maybe then I’ll learn how to break a heart
But then who would I be
A cruel soul of enmity
if I learned how to break a heart

But why, why, why would we be born just to die alone?
Maybe you want what I can never offer
My sadness will be reflected in the happiness
he will supposedly offer you
