Love's Desperate Sigh

Love's Desperate Sigh

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

It fades away inside and I start to fold upon the petals of a dying devotion

"

Why does love have to die?
I can’t live without that wonderful feeling
It fades away inside and I start to burn
As the flames of Winter subside
I am no more than ashes

Love’s desperate sigh
left me with a broken heart
I can’t even cry
I’ve lost the will to even give in
For just once, can love be real?

Does love really come from madness
or is it born of melancholia?
It fades away inside and I start to fold
upon the petals of a dying devotion
This rose was born to shed its beauty

Love’s desperate sigh
left me with a broken heart
I can’t even cry
I’ve lost the will to even give in
For just once, can love be real?

Why can’t this be true?
I’m sick, I’m tired, I’m weary
Give me something to be apart of

Wow … is this one a keeper. Why can't love be real … I think you might mean lasting and fulfilling??? And it can be, but hell if that doesn't take work and work from both parties. It's 10 percent magic and 90 percent commitment and hard work. But this poem is both … magic and craft.

This is by far my favorite of your "white gold" series of poems. It's excellent, and I can relate to the feels of it.

You know how to express the heartbreak in such a gentle way...

Love can bring one to a state of delirium... it can also bring one to euphoria...
Maddening isn't it?!

I love how you paint your heart on your canvas... breathtaking, dear Elliott... (sigh)

Powerful emotions in this write that questions the ethos of "love". Apart from that initial elation, my experience has been that it is painful and overwhelming at times. And yet we will do it again and again, until it seems settled and lasting. A deep, reflective piece that I liked very much. Penny
