Atom Heart Father

Atom Heart Father

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Oh, the nuclear energy of a temporary peace

"

My bad mood is a dying supernova
Nothing beautiful about destruction
and yet, it’s witnessed by many
just to hurt a few
Oh, the nuclear energy of a temporary peace
Lay down your guns in the poppy field
We’ll surf this petal beach in hopes of salvation
Anger is self sufficient to say the least
The foundation of self doubt

Passive, passive, passive!
Why can’t we all feel serene?
I want a smoke, a little green haze
so all the negativity will turn and fade
Just above the soul of the sun
we found the fountain of happiness
It was reason and rational thought!

Breaking up in the stratosphere
I believe, I finally believe!
I’ll be calm on the astral belt
just south of where the planets are born

The second stanza gets to me. I don't know why.
