The Serpent Said

The Serpent Said

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Serrated edge within the mind

"
Slay these torments so I have no pettiness within me
I'm in agony though I'm sure it's all my f*****g fault
I'm spiteful but I'm still in pain
Her Satanic shadow is still upon me after all this time

Hung off the cross yet still a parchment of rule
Happy insane yet killing the self for the cure
Serrated edge within the mind
cut the dreams, the hopes, the future

I'm still cursed with no reflection to call my own
I'm sure I had a heart once, perhaps...
My nightmares crossed into the living world long ago
I was left behind after the Rapture.. surely

Powerful and dark write. I like the last stanza, the way you surround this line "I'm sure I had a heart once, perhaps..."

You are crazy good … great use of metaphor.

You've picked an excellent album to inspire you. And I agree 100 percent with your statues! I enjoyed reading this, you have a damn good way with words.

-Bravo-
Even though it's a short piece, it grips the reader from the start. I love it. Especially the 2nd stanza
