Blood on the Roses

Blood on the Roses

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

UZI suicide is for the weak and unfortunate

"
What's the point in waiting around for tomorrow?
Been watching my hopes and dreams collapse
Staining the pavement with blood and sweat
Pour me another shot, I want to forget today even existed

God bless the devil
He's been shadowing me since I lost my job
I need an escape from this Hell
but there's no such thing as an easy solution

With these mean streets that stretch down south
Children wear necklaces of bullets and shells
UZI suicide is for the weak and unfortunate
Time to kick out the jams for these precious hours

I lost my faith
but I found a bottle of tequila
Let me see if I can drown these inner demons
as my old vinyl continues to spin

I want
I want something beautiful
to reflect today
Blood on the roses
Blood on the roses
I want
I want to cure my cynicism
least for tonight
Blood on the roses
Blood on the roses

"I lost my faith
but I found a bottle of tequila Let me see if I can drown these inner demons..." that's raw, but very deep. not all of us are fortunate enough to wake up and find that our problems are gone with time. some of us just have to live with our problems, eachday like our new found bestfriend. very nice write!

Very good writing, very relatable. The pain and suffering of life is almost intolerable, but we wouldn't have any idea of what is bad without an idea or experience of what is good. I hope you feel better dear.

"Children wear necklaces of bullets and shells" amazing line. nice title as well. I'd like to see this poem transformed into lyrics... Hope all is well with you.

Thanks. Same to you.
Very bold and striking like a jagged wound. Love this one as I can relate.

I like this line:
"Been watching my hopes and dreams collapse"
You not only pour tequila but you pour out feelings nicely.

Well, I see you are reaching outside of the box, Elliott...
There is something dark and uncomfortable in this write, yet I feel your determination to move forward...
Mixing alcohol with your demons can have an intriguing effect...burns doesn't it?

"I lost my faith
but I found a bottle of tequila
Let me see if I can drown these inner demons
as my old vinyl continues to spin"~ Well depicted, my dear. ~xoxo~:)
