August

August

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

When you deem me so high

"
I'm waiting on a reason
A reason that will never form
A reason to keep me here

I'm waiting for someone
Someone who will take the pain away
Someone who will plead with me to remain

All of August's crumpled leaves and golden trees
seem to fall into the same shade of grey
now and forever

I'm waiting for an excuse
An excuse to give me hope
An excuse to stop from this

I'm waiting for the dawn
For the dawn to end this
For the sun that will never rise while I am here

I am waiting on a reason
I am waiting for someone
in all August's crumpled leaves
and golden trees
I am waiting on an excuse
I am waiting on the Dawn
for a sun that will never rise
while I am here.....

Waiting for something hopeless... Does that make sense? It's like hoping for something that will never be. It's a sad thought, yet I know how it feels.

Everyone finds a someone....eventually. The imagery is stunning, especially the third stanza!

My favourite lines:

'All of August's crumpled leaves and golden trees
seem to fall into the same shade of grey
now and forever'

Don't they just?

The dawn is coming and the sun will rise.
All you have to do, is wait for it.

I really really love the third stanza, the imagery there is perfect and heartbreakingly beautiful

These two stanzas really stood out to me, this is quite a sad write but the 'someone' will come, E - you just gotta believe it, too.

I really like this: the rhythm, the word choice and its message but huge fan of the third stanza---fabulous.
