1987 Come TrueA Poem by Dwain DowdyTrue Story of my first highschool crush
Have you ever had a fantasy come true
Did you think that it could be real How many times has your mind played it through Almost enough to physically feel Then again no one can be me A story too remarkable to conceive Of a fantasy I started 34 years ago To reality yesterday if you can believe I memorized her voice every time she said hi A kind and accepting smile she wore The smell of her hair I carried all day My pulse would race in the imagination would soar Her eyes were always happy they seemed Bright and honest and so green Her presence alone would take my breath She was more than I could have ever dreamed But a fantasy it would be none the less She was beautiful older and sincere And then in my mind as the day grew dark The sinful side of the fantasy appeared So Yesterday fate called out for round 2 After a 34-year recess to be precise And when I heard that lovely voice again My soul screamed to heaven with delight Being an adult now the fantasy seemed clear Again seeing her green eyes on fire That calming Sensation that she wants had Was now replaced with lust and desire Not slowing down to think things through We both surrendered to the sin That fantasy I created in 1987 Has now become reality, as a new life we begin.
