Poem about inner struggle with depression

"
I Am The Only One
by David Dwain Dowdy.

I am alone in a crowded room
Invisible even in light
Overlooked by even doom
Salvation an oversight.

I Am The Only One.

Made to wander endlessly
Alone and extremely cold
My soulless life is incomplete
The creases of my life unfold.

I Am The Only One.

Desperation is my bed
The screams stuck in my throat
Every torment fills my head
The Devil just watches to gloat.

I Am The Only One.

A loveless heart fractured perfectly
Nothing good in my life have I done.
Depression is my home eternally
I Am The Only One.

'I am The Only One'
Dwain Dowdy,
It's true that when we are going through pain we can feel isolated. Your title expresses this. Part of the human condition is to pull away for awhile then. Healing is more possible by drawing close to others and even sharing pain. But life is a process. I wish you every blessing.

By now I hope you know you are not the only one. Life pulls you along and you will find others who scream silently in the dark of night. But for now poetry is a good way to let go of that pain.

Many new writers express depression in a bleak way, as if barfing up the darkness onto the page. This is okay (true to life) but I prefer when darkness can be made into art, the way you have done. This is great writing, with strong rhyme & creativity & imagery. In depression, it's common to create one's reality about being the only one . . . since we often withdraw, we can create the isolated situation that keeps echoing in our minds. This is a creative way to show how this goes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Dwain, I thought you did an excellent job laying out depression. It clutters the mind with self ridicule, and the smallest details are overwhelming. Poetry is an great therapy for both writer and reader.

Your emotions become almost visible to the eye through your well chosen words and very poignant write. Not only is it filled with deep meaning it has a beautiful rhyme and a flow when reading. Deeply touching and profound. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Such a dark melancholy here, yet - calling to be noticed in spite of the mention of 'invisible'. Sometimes, exposure shows a willingness to join even the periphere of - let's say, 'society' . You use words carefully but place them just so, you'll benefit from the light on them..so hope you will.
