passive passion of a smile

passive passion of a smile

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Your fingertips on my palm

Eyes on my sin

Passive passion of the smile

You gave when the world changed.

It changed in a thunder boom second

Which we never saw coming.

I was there for you

Ready to call you out

You confirmed my intuition

And I hated you for it

Because you are making me wait

For you to be ready for me.

I am still here.

Defying logical thought

Holding ground and falling out of line

With others who share what I want

I am different than them

Honest and filled with destiny.

Sone above was kind enough

To show you that you are not wrong.

When you call silently out into the night

For a nameless face known as true love

The face you saw when your fingertips

Found the palm of my hand

The moment you started feeling true love.
