While The Music Played

While The Music Played

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
"

these are lyrics I wrote for my brother Jon. He's an amazing musician.

"

The song started
I laid my eyes upon you
The whole world began to dance
Air heavy with the excitement
That only rock and roll can bring.
While the music played

The room filled up with angels and devils
Elbows throwing
Dagger shooting eyes glaring
But the beats were too strong
 And the lights too bright
For me to notice
they were aiming their weapons at me

I was their arch enemy
The one they  talk s**t about to their friends
The person they gather up their armies to destroy
The girl whose body you held dangerously tight to yours
While the music played.

My eyes glittered with flashbulb lights
And for a split second I was a groupie,
The kind of girl who would shame to her mother.
A girl who would throw her morals on the ground
Giving all she had to give,
Not paying any attention to what the evil eyes around saw
As she handed over all her shame
To you
While the music played.

And I think that nothing could ever be more
And I dread the moment when we become less
So I will take this and keep it,
If I had my way , life would scream with this feeling forever
And we would never have to answer for anything we did tonight
While the music played
