Warmly

Warmly

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The sparkles in my eyes
Make you look like a cartoon prince

A king to be.

Make a queen out of me.

For without you I fear I am common
And I believe I am meant for so much more.

My feet are on broken glass
They belong on plush carpet
And my hands are cold and bare
they should be wrapped in yours.

Warmly.

Hush my king,

Can you hear that?
The heralding sirens of fate
Screaming in the night while we are separated?

I hope that you can

it keeps me up all night

pacing.

Waiting for the second

where you see me with the same sparkly hope

that I have this moment

as I look into your face in my dreams

You may be many things, but you are far from common. An exceptional love poem. Filled with intensity, love, adoration and a masterful skill that shows just how good a poet you are. It takes my mind back to the old movies of the fifties, where the guy gets the girl, there are swirls of hearts and flowers and great emotion. Truly a wonderful work. But that's what you do.
