Mr. Beautiful

Mr. Beautiful

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Dear Mr. Beautiful

Take care and hold her hand loosely

It would be a shame to spook

The girl you have been waiting for your whole life.

She is kind and you are wise and together you are fate

Be courteous, be true but most of all be in love

For a girl like this will not wait for you

To decide that you are ready for happiness

I know that when you dream, you dream of her

And the wind reminds you of a warm night on Cape Cod

She feels it too.

I know that when she can’t sleep it’s because you are so far away

And the empty pillow next to her doesn’t help in taking

That crazy feeling out of her overworked mind.

Come to her Mr. Beautiful, if not for you than for love

Be the man I know you want to be

With the resolve of Kings and Knights

And finish this fairy tale for the world to read

As they put their children to bed.
