A hush and promise.

A hush and promise.

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

This time

I am a lot older and wiser

able to make decisions based on facts rather than

ideals placed upon me by people who are selling an image

Mature eyes bring upon grown up visions

and I can't help be surprised that I see you again.

You are so much more the man of the day

than when your face was first seen by my inner child

Those eyes just barely visible bring my knees to weakness

and my breath stops when I think they are looking for me.

I daren't speak to God directly, for I have asked for way too much in vain.

But if he could hear me just this once, I would not for second hold back

I would ask for you to love me.

really nicely done. i especially identified with the line "I daren't speak to God directly, for I have asked for way too much in vain." so much truth in those words, not to mention the rest of this poem.
