Innocence in chains and purple lighting.A Poem by Sarah McKeever HittWith the snap of a camera, a moment of exhibition on your part I found myself in the back of the crowd holding my own against people who wanted you more than I did. But they really didn’t you know, I was just better at keeping my secrets. From my earliest womanly thoughts You were the star of all my late night moments Even before I knew what they were And what I was supposed to do with them. In the name of adolescent lust revisted of lessons unlearned Signs repeatedly unread And destinies yet to be fulfilled. Fate took the driver’s seat Lead me to a moment of discovery The moment I saw you today That image, all the hues shadows and unobstructed glory reminded me Firmly solidified your control. Made me innocent again I should have known From the way my hands shook The way I defended you to everyone I met And the fact that I loved you so much that I almost hated you I would be powerless against you. I finally figured that out When I saw in the puple haze tonight while I was wrapped in chains My eyes were playing jokes on my heart my mind was playing jokes on my body I could all but hear you laugh, In your castle in the hills As the wind told you that you once again took command over my fantasies
If that is what you desire Than let it be If fate and God and whoever else cares are to hear me now I will be at my house around 7 tonight To hand over custody of my freedoms And put myself in your ward forever.
