Did I tell you?

Did I tell you?

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Did I tell you

your eyes make me nervous?

At times I can’t stop my mind from racing

scenarios that could come to be

if I were to let myself fall for you.

I cannot wait for the day when I let my heart be open to visitors who

did I tell you

I like the way my future looks with you standing next to me.

as I grow old and wise.

Please take me for my word

they have never been more honest than they are right now

I am talking to you.

I may not be perfect

I can fight like sin against what is good for me,

If you can stand it

I  ask that you take me on

I don’t get this nervous very often

and that has to mean something.

I hope with all my might

that my journal entry confession finds your soul fast asleep tonight

 and when you wake up

the birds of the morning remind you of me.
