I chose love

I chose love

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The worth of silence

is lost on me

I am not a believer of solitude

because we are not cellular beings

If we were, I would be able to go five minutes

without reaching for your hand.

The teachings of the masters

say that we are born alone

and to our graves we shall again return

I don't want to live my life in morbid darkness

when all I want is to feel your arms around me

Who cares, if we die alone

that is just a brief moment of many

the seconds that race by with you in my life

are the ones that matter to me.

So be damned all you nay sayers

save it for the dime store believers

I chose love.
