Perfection

Perfection

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Perfection

from the way the trees yield to the wind

and the sun makes the blossoms awaken

to the rain that quenches the thirsty grass

perfection

Like the way you look at me

when my jokes are far too vulgar

and my hands tremble out of fear

to the mis matched jewelry that I wear

perfection

in how you understand the inner sanctums of my life

and hold up mirrors when I choose to keep myself blind

to the head knods you give me when I am at my worst

perfection

I never knew that my silly heart could attain

such a level of beautiful love unrestrained

but in my life I can safely say that with you

I have found perfection.

Maybe time is fleeting

and to dust we shall soon be

with nothing else to remind our successors of

perfection

But I shall hold my self to this promise

and never stop committing myself to you

and ensuring that you always look at me as god's gift to you

and that our story was pure and true.

perfection.
