Step back in time

Step back in time

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Let's take a step back in time,

be like time traveler's and whisk

back to when I was young and fresh

and you were busy being all you could be

The southern cooking and strong drinks

the dancing, the sun burns and the long nights

I had that beat up car that caused me hell

and you had the most insane laugh

We were soul mates.

I met utter insanity and

dealt with finding sobriety

you were a sparkling fireball  in the sky.

Oh my lord in heaven, we were kids

drenching our bodies in the waters of mystery

not knowing the other's story

We were too busy telling our own.
