tick tick tick

tick tick tick

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Tick tick tick

the sound in my head today

the days are running quickly from me

And the people around me are cheering them on

When I stare at heaven these days I am not seeing blue skies anymore

I see clouds, I see crows and I see storms where you used to be.

Ten minutes ago it was ten years ago

and we were kids

And in love,

 and in control of everything

But not now.

 Lord knows not now.

When did that happen?

When did the clock in my head start waking me up from day dreams?

Power,

I need power to see the sun again

And I know I will,

when I let you go.
