Night

Night

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The trees bent silently

Moon drenched landscape weeping

Dew covered grass bowing

In the presence of you.

Transcribed in the starlight

My message of love

Misread by the nightingales

Who spoke it to you.

All the while I slept

Waiting patiently for word

That you felt the same.
