Animal

Animal

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Forgive me

for I know not what I do.

Do you buy that?

I hope not.

You see I am tricky

with my batting eyes

and my sweet smile.

they hide intentions

unholy expectations

making you prey for the animal

lurking quietly underneath.

This is highly sensual. I love they way you expose the coy act as motive filled. Oh, and the play on pray and prey in the end, evoking the animal out of the civilized. Fascinating. Enjoyable. - EllisD

I smile as I read this. I see much of myself in these thoughts. Although I believe your intent here is to express thoughts about a relationship, I can very easily fit this framework of thinking into my professional role. It is this sly and coy demeanor which I sometimes deploy as tactical in negotiations. Love this Sarah.
