Daydreams

Daydreams

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Is it so wrong
to daydream in technicolor
surrounded by the majesty of young hearts
beating in time
hoping for a happily ever after?
I have to believe in something
ever fleeting but real to me.
I have to hold on to this fantasy
because it is there alone,
where I have you.
Is it so wrong to believe in that?
To take stock in your reactions
covering my heart in your light and love?
I have to think outside the box,
for this is not a normal kind of romance
and I am not a normal kind of girl.
My confidence in you is fading
and the colors bleeding together
and I can't stop wondering
do you dream in black and white?
