lights dancing on my ceiling

lights dancing on my ceiling

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The day stripped to silence and darkened walls
My empty room resting in peace.
At last a moment to put my weary mind at rest.
And then I hear your voice.
Your questioning whisper ringing in my ear.

Your inquest crossing space and time
Asking "where and what and who am I?"
I answer in my bravest tone
as I lay alone in my bed,
"You are on your way to me
The man I always knew you were
The man you don't let yourself be "

The side of my face caressed by the ghost of your hand
and i begin to fall asleep.
And there you are.
You stand brave faced before me
In a room of colors and lights
Hand outstretched in honest hoping
praying with your eyes that I accept it.

My every bone tells me not to deny you.
Breaths as guides say this is our only chance
Eyes locked in gentle understanding
This has become our common ground.
As I feel your kiss on my forehead I wake,
Smiling weakly at the lights dancing on my ceiling.
I know in that instant that this was not just a dream.

I think that this is one of your most tender writes. It has such a soft warmth to it. I enjoyed visualizing your thoughts of this gentleman as he materialized in your mind. Such intense desire and passion. Really nice...
