Too late for regret

Too late for regret

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The time is racing now

faster than I thought

Nearly a decade wasted

Not on you,

but inspite of me.

You merely an excuse

Forgive me.

We were both too weak.

Hold on to this admission.

It is rare

and only for you.

We had only virtual happiness.

That's better than none, I suppose.

Think fondly of how we tripped on fate.

I leave you now shouting silently

No time for regret

It's too late.
