What Sort of Love Have We?

What Sort of Love Have We?

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

I wonder
be it aloud or in slumber
what sort of love have we?

Is it the type that causes fire
or does our whimsy bring raindrops

Are we beloved in psalms and verse

or do we sing in a tone so loud that only
the owls can hear it in the middle of the night?

Will we be legends in our romance
or folly in our advances?

Will we burn the sky?
or freeze the lonely hearts that come after us?

What sort of love have we?
