Pivotal moment

Pivotal moment

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

This is a pivotal moment
with vines and rhymes and stories
still the hero you are
your horse is white but walking away
And I want you to go.

Perhaps I never wanted you to stay
maybe I wanted to hurt knowing you were in a rush
to love someone who wears different flowers in her hair
mine were purple for you and hers are daisies
What can I say?
That's fine with me now

So race down the road towards the sunset
my knight in arms.
I am going to tend to the heart in my chest
You need to be going off to rescue your inside voice
For once I understand that maybe I never understood

I do now and I am glad to have loved you
In the midst of learning all about life
and when I love again I will compare him to you
And you will think of me when you see fire flies
Who could ask for anything more?
