This Tyrannous Love

This Tyrannous Love

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Someday I will fly
higher than the sky
that was placed in my eyes
when I first saw your face.

I will be blind
by the light
that my eyes can't see
because of the shade
that you cast
at the start of this.

This tyrannous love.

Someday I will run
faster than the sound
of your voice

I will be the crash of thunder boom
that my ears cannot hear
as your voice still calls for me
singing the desperate songs of this

This tyrannous love.

But fear not, I tell my broken heart-
The time will come
And so it will be
that I will kiss you good riddance
from my dreams
My heart, full of pride
will offer wishes of peace
that I cannot afford to part with-
at least not today- during this

This tyrannous love.
