But answer me this, what if we die tomorrow?

But answer me this, what if we die tomorrow?

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

As true as the words I write in my diary
I say to you now that I am melting for you.
I will not let my fear of recourse stop me from saying so.

you see I could mask my intent with mossy lies
and I could be meek and mild and hidden
but answer me this, what if we die tomorrow?
I do not want our lives to go to the twilight with any words unspoken

All that lyrical nonsense said
and with the risk of silence so great
and with the winds of courage brushing against my heart
I must tell you again that
I am in the middle of a fire in your honor
and I am melting for you.
