ever so slightly ever so slightly

ever so slightly ever so slightly

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

The sirens on the street beckon
the incident that is meant to come
your feet
the balcony
the ground
my face hits the pillow.

I have no clue why
but moths flew out of your bag today
and the handle you flew off of bent
ever so slightly
ever so slightly

So now what?
as the people gather and call you
what shall this love story tell
Do we break up
bend to the pressure or
do we run away together
insisting this was all for show?

I am up for any of it
I just want you to be-
Now and forever less than you were
but more than any other man.

In love with me.
