Mercy, please sir grant mercy.

Mercy, please sir grant mercy.

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
"

yearning, waiting, wanting, love

"

In regards to you

I am starved

hanging out on limbs

scratching the surface

holding on to breaths

waiting, forever waiting.

Mercy

Please sir grant mercy

and relief

Take the smoldering silence

cool me with wind

take me to calm

Until then,

now and forever

I wait.

Patiently defient

As a child on the playground

skinned knees

choked back tears

waiting, forever waiting

Sympathy

Please sir grant sympathy

and serenity

Pull my pride aside

look in my face

until then

now and forever

I wait

As the dove in the night

singing hard and loud

with clenched eyes

and wings spread

Waiting, forever waiting

Passion

Please sir grant passion

and whimsy

share with me the velvet forever

Love me like there is no consequence

Until then

Now and forever

I wait.
