as ever i had ever been

as ever i had ever been

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Fresh and re-grown
Bartered down and brought up again
High strung electric
As ever I had ever been.

Free spirit grounded
Self-fulfilling and enigmatic
roaming this earth with stars in eyes
as ever I had ever been.

Flaunting unclaimed property
Forging and gorging on that which is not yet mine
Hanging head yet standing so tall
As ever I had ever been

Sordid and plain
Transparent in mystery
Living in the days as if the nights
As ever I had ever been.
