Hush now in the rain.

Hush now in the rain.

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt
"

Good bye love, the wind is blowing and the rain is washing you away.

"
Hush now in the rain
as the wind blows my curtains
your face is hidden by the shadows
making it much easier to let the moment happen

Far too many hours have passed
we are both old and wiser for the wear
beaten and bruised and in the final lap
wasting no more time on pretend

Looking back at how far we have come
from naive and secretive and sordid little kids
to the grown up versions of us who stand in this room
waiting for the other to say what we both are feeling.

This time will be the last time
the last goodbye words in the breezy room
the last time I will tell you I have loved you so much I broke
the last time you will pretend not to hear.

I will be quiet and still for the first time in my life
you will be alone to move on with out my affection
I will sleep, able to receive the better version of love
that I am to enjoy with out you.

This was so soft and beautiful and melancholy. Your melodic verses have a hypnotizing affect on the reader where, as we find the last line we think, the poem ended far too soon. Very nicely done.
