Gambling

Gambling

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Betraying my senses of decency
I will tell you everything on my mind
from the sparklers to the bombs
and all the mess in between.

Can you deal with me?
with all the rips and glue?
Holding together by threads of wishes
and dreams that may or may not come true?

I hope so since I am betting the house
with all chips on the table
that you will stick by my side tonight
and never regret your choice.

To me that is love
and tonight is all we have
so gear up for me because my words are escaping
and I know that once they are said
I can never take them back.
