Scratches and shimmer

Scratches and shimmer

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

This is nothing new

Nor is it clean and pretty

It is not ideal and

By no means is it simple

This is us

With all the scratches and shimmer

All the electricity and the dull.

Nothing more flashy than truth

Forever the same since the beginning

Perfect.

very nice. i like the conclusion. following all the 'faults'. the scratches and the shimmer. it is still perfect.
my one criticism is that the word 'dull' doesn't seem to balance the word 'electricity'. though i get the meaning, it just sounds wrong to me. i guess i don't think of dull as a noun. dullness might be better. or a similar meaning word like drudgery, which sort of is the opposite of electricity in this context.
