You waved a broken wand

You waved a broken wand

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

You waved a broken wand

mumbled under your breath that you loved me

and the whole room exploded in star twinkles

The pearls on my neck

show off the time it took to love me

You put them there with care and stealth

nearly with out my noticing

the music box song that played for your past lifetime

erupted from imaginary phonographs

hidden in the curtains behind the antique furnature

that represent the story of our romance.
