speech

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

I am petrified and slow of speech

hands bracing on opposite wrist

keeping calm and still but scared

as I tell the world I love you.

Love and all it's cool composure

reign over me now as I tremble

This is the time when I need to be a champion

in the most important speech of my life.
