steel

steel

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

This sticky aching in my chest

is heavy like steel

keeping my breathing shallow and quick

gasping for just the tiniest surplus

that only a kiss from you can maintain

my wide open spaced heart

needs the tightness of you

the void's electricity is killing me

causing chaos in my mind as it moves

from one part of my body to another.

I can not see straight

without youattacking my senses with your heat

Here I sit barely breathing in love with you

trying with all my might to survive the wait

while you are trying to find me.
