Never More Again

Never More Again

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

Am I a jester

or some sort of make believe?

That is not a question I can answer

because truth is subjective

and the air is heavy with lies today.

I can no longer hang my hat

on the delicate hooks of you

and when I wake alone in the morning

the wind from the crack in the wondow

won't burn my skin like it did for so long.

So now what?

Are you going to move on without me?

Or has the joke of all this lost it's humor years ago?

I am not sure but I simply can not find it in me to cry for you anymore,

And I won't be on the first plane to you when you ask

like the dimestore clown of my past would have been .

Good night and God bless and live laugh play,

For by the time you read these words I will be in love

holding court with royal diplomacy

and you will be a footnote in the history of my heart.

Never more again.

You have the ability to evoke such strong feelings with your imagery. This is so sad, so definite, so strong. Bravo
