There is fire in your smile.

There is fire in your smile.

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

There is fire in your smile

it burns me alive

My fire proofed skin

no match for the heat

The electric air

sets catastrophe in motion

the moment the night decides

the time for love is now.

The kind hearted mind f**k

enrages my sensible side

as I try to put out the fire

that melts me to vulnerability

in your honor.

You are so gifted and your writing is fantastic! I have had the delight of reading several and will be back. Your poems are vivid and evoke feeling. You think in images that strike right where intended. Wow. :)

Thank you. I am humbled by your words. Thank you many times over.
This is one of the best poems I have ever read. I love the concept. The imagery you create by comparing his (or her?) smile to a fire is extremely vivid. I loved the way you tied everything together and still managed to tell a story. Poems like this have a literal side, and the intended meaning. Both of those in this poem are very well done. Great Job!
