I Step Into Nothingness

Loss & remorse of a lover

For the prick of penitent your memories bring,
I yearn for your beautiful smile.
When the curtains with zephyr swing,
My heart stops and wanders a mile.

Where did you go my love?...

While you left in my soul your magical mark,
I lived my life against your dying one.
You held my hand tight in frightening dark,
I slipped it off in my bright sun.

Here in the moor purpled with heather,
I stand on  the edge, looking at the cross,
Remembering the gazebo we built together,
Taking the last breathe in painful remorse ,

I step into nothingness to reach my everything...

I felt that universal, necessary, and certain phenomena of human existence: Loss.
Was it the death of your father? Your poem took me to memory of my father's death. You touched me.
I use to try to rhyme my words in the patterns established. But my words would clang out in an improvisational dance. I decided to let it flow. Meaning and sentiment over form is what I have embraced.

It came from your mind, life, experience. Roll with it, dance with it, celebrate aliveness.

You should never step into nothingness. Otherwise, there is nothing there when you arrive. That is how people fall down elevator shafts, you know.

Only issue I see, one of spelling, is soal should be soul. Unless you meant to spell it that way.
